Well it looks as if our sojourn in Retards Bay is finally coming to an end. All the gadgets and widgets that we ordered have been delivered and more importantly, our clearance papers from SAMSA have come through. One more final shop for fresh goods and then we can clear out.
There seems to be a weather window opening up around Friday/Saturday. There is quite a big front coming up from the deep south and its after effects should reach us by the weekend. It looks substantial so we should be able to get two, maybe three days worth of southerlies out of the system which would put us far enough north to end up milking the south easterly that blows up there this time of the year.
The trick is to get past Maputo Bay with some southerly drive, otherwise you end up getting the kak kicked out of you by the sodding north east. It would be a neat trick to get this one right.
The weather up here has begun to change - there has been a noticeable drop in the daytime temperature as well as a lot of rain. Old Bob got it right way back then - the times they are a changing.
The biggest enemy has been boredom. We have done what can be done on the boat and what with the shitty weather it has been a case of being confined to quarters. The Easter weekend in Retards Bay is not going to feature in the top 10 000 places to be in future travel guides, this place must be the only illuminated graveyard in South Africa!
Ah well, we are TUFF so we can handle this. The other two boats that we are hooked up with are both at Bazaruto already and apparently the weather up there is stunning. It's that thought that keeps us going, another week and we will be in the tropics. Whoopie!!
I will see if I can do one last post before we leave, other wise it will be from our new home once I have sorted out Mozambiquan airtime. That should provide endless entertainment folks so hang in there for some quirky stories.
Y'all keep the faith and stay well.
